Sunday، 29 November 2020 - 12:32 PM

Egypt calls on the global bodies concerned not to neglect Africa in developing plans of vaccination against the coronavirus as soon as vaccines are officially adopted, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Ambassador Wael Nasr el-Din Attia told the 67th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human & Peoples' Rights, held via videoconference during the period from November 13 to December 3.

The coronavirus crisis revealed the international community's lack of readiness in face of the urgent global crisis; a mater which requires boosting the international solidarity, the statement said.

Attia reviewed the Egyptian government's anti-coronavirus measures in cooperation with the World Health Organization, especially in the prisons, highlighting the resumption of visits to the prisoners since late August.

He noted that the first national strategy for human rights in Egypt is about to be finished.
