President of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Hassan Mostafa has stressed that the Egypt-hosted Men’s Handball World Championship will be a historic tournament.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 27th championship, he expressed his confidence in Cairo's successful organization of this event, which kicked off on Wednesday 13/1/2021 and lasts until January 31.

He asserted that Egypt will certainly convey a message to the world on the successful organization of the tournament, welcoming all teams competing in this world sporting event.

Mostafa added that the IHF decided to hold this championship with the adoption of precautionary measures amid the coronavirus outbreak, which forced us to cancel three world championships in 2020.
