Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el Anani and Aswan Governor Ashraf Attia inaugurated on Friday restoration works at the Isis Temple in line with the Upper Egyptian governorate’s celebration of its national day, which falls on January 15.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri said the Isis Temple is about 19 meters long, and 15 meters wide with a ceiling of approximately 7 meters high.
The temple had been partially built during the reign of King Ptolemy III and completed by King Ptolemy IV, to be converted later into a church, he added.
