Planning minister: Decent Life initative benficiaries reach 1.8 mn

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala El-Said said the number of citizens benefiting from Decent Life "Hayat Karima" initiative mounted to 1.8 million, saying work is in full swing in the governorates.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on Sunday 17/1/2021 said a ministry's periodic evaluation report, assessing progress achieved so far regarding the presidential initiative launched in 2019 with a view to ameliorating living conditions and quality of life and services to the neediest families, highlighted the State's efforts on this score.
The quality-of-life index is a composite one that aims to create a quantitative tool to help measure the impact of efforts undertaken by the State in the field of developing rural communities within the framework of "Decent Life" initiative, the statement said.
The index showed an 18% improvement in the quality of life, as well as a 14% decrease in average poverty rates of villages included in the first phase of the initiative, it added.
According to the trajectory, tangible achievement has been realized regarding the initiatives pivots; covering sustainable development, health, education, potable water, sewage system and small-scale projects, the statement said.
“Decent Life” is an initiative endorsed by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, with the main objective of improving the quality of life in the poorest rural communities within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030, through decreasing multidimensional poverty and unemployment rates.
