Transport min.: 1st electric train to arrive in August

Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir announced on Friday that the first electric train will arrive in Egypt in August to start its trial operation.
Wazir's remarks came during his inspection tour of the Salam City/10th of Ramadan City Electric Train, which extends for 90 kilometers and includes 16 stations.
The LRT train's first phase will begin from Adly Mansour Metro station to the New Administrative Capital Station I. The second phase ends at the New Administrative Capital Station II.
The implementation rates of the two phases reached 76.5%. They are set to be inaugurated during the October celebrations this year.
The project's total number of trains amounts to 22.
In this regard, Wazir stressed the importance of adhering to the project's timetable in line with the highest standards given that the electric train will link Cairo's new cities together.
The minister also inspected the progress rates of the monorail project will include a 56.5 km line and 22 stations. The total implementation rate reached 10.5%.
The monorail's first stage will be opened by the end of May 22.
A consortium of Bombardier Transportation, Orascom Construction, and Arab Contractors are implementing the project.
