Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el Anani chaired a meeting on Tuesday to discuss draft bill on amendments to the tourism companies law No.38 for the Year 1977 and its amended law No.118 for the Year 1951.
The meeting included the head of the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF), head of the committee in charge of operation of travel agents and companies, the tourism ministry legal adviser and a number of the ministry's top officials.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities asserted that any amendments to tourism law will guarantee the rights of tourism companies in order to modernize their performance to comply with the new orientation of the tourism industry.
The proposed amendments will include digitization of tourism services, good governance and other benefits to the tourism sector, the statement added.
In late 2020, the Ministry of Tourism has outlined an amended law for the operation of tourism facilities and hotels and sent it to the prime minister for approval.
