Egypt, Japan probe cooperation in agricultural, fishing domains

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Sayed Al Quseir discussed on Wednesday 3/3/2021 with Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Masaki Noke prospects of agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
The minister hailed Egyptian-Japanese relations which he said witnessed a big leap during the past period in all domains, pointing out that Egyptian citrus is strongly present in Japanese markets.
The minister discussed with the Japanese diplomat cooperation in fish farming, agricultural mechanization and modern irrigation systems, as well as means to increase Egyptian agricultural exports.
The meeting tackled means to boost the marketing capabilities of junior farmers and training as Egypt has many research centers in all domains.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador expressed happiness over meeting minister Quseir, saying cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural domain goes back to the 1970s, especially in the fields rice cultivation and irrigation development.
He said cooperation between Egypt and Japan increases cooperation with African countries due to Egypt's pioneering role in the Continent.
For his part, head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in Egypt Yoshifumi Omura reviewed projects carried by his agency in Egypt as well as cooperation in the agricultural domain, pointing out to the possibility of cooperation with Egypt's agricultural bank to finance junior farmers' projects.
