Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea asserted the importance of compiling an integrated database for all projects carried out in the handicrafts sector in order to enable them to have access to programs of funding, training and capacity building, as well as to take part in local and international exhibitions.
The minister made the remarks during her meeting with members of the Egyptian Export Council for Handicrafts (EECH), chaired by Al Waleed Al Shamy, to discuss means of developing and upgrading the sector in a way that helps improve the Egyptian handicrafts' competitiveness in the domestic and global markets.
During the meeting, Gamea emphasized the political leadership’s keenness to advance the handicrafts sector and address all challenges facing its workers.
She also underscored the necessity of maximizing benefit from the database provided by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), and the Industrial Modernization Center.
