Sisi's visit to Sudan affirms joint consensus on national security issues: senator

Head of the Senate’s Defense and National Security Committee Osama el Gendy said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s latest visit to Sudan emphasizes the strategic consensus between Cairo and Khartoum on national security issues.

The talks held between President Sisi and senior Sudanese officials have embodied the Egyptian national security fundamentals as regards Sudan, Gendy said in press statements on Monday.

Sisi’s visit to Sudan at such a critical juncture, and the several meetings held between the two countries’ officials affirm Egypt’s keenness to ensure Sudan’s security, stability and prosperity, he added.

In this regard, the senator said Sudan is an integral part of Egypt’s security and stability.

Gendy also noted that the Sudanese leadership is working on achieving peace and security within the framework of the tireless Egyptian efforts that have paved the way for the comprehensive peace deal in Sudan.
