Irrigation ministry continues implementing mega projects for protecting Egyptian coasts

The Egyptian General Authority for Shores Protection, a facility affiliated to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation is proceeding ahead with the implementation of mega projects that aim at protecting Egyptian coasts, securing people, as well as public and private facilities and property.

In statements on Saturday 15/05/2021, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati said these projects are also meant to confront the climate change fallout in view of coastal erosion.

The projects also protect archaeological sites near the coast like Citadel of Qaitbay in Alexandria and promote for tourist areas in order to boost tourism.

The ventures will also help restore eroded shores in Alexandria, hence promote investments in this area.

The aim of the projects is also to enrich fish wealth in northern lakes, the minister said, noting that the ministry has launched a project for adapting with climate change in the northern coast and Nile Delta.
