Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said on Friday that the Egyptian economic indicators are positive for the current fiscal year.
He added, during his participation in a roundtable meeting in Washington of the US Chamber of Commerce via video conference, that it is expected that the economic growth rate would reach 2.8 percent for the current fiscal year thanks to the successful economic and financial reform measures adopted by the Egyptian government.
He added that it is also expected that the total budget deficit would decrease to reach 7.7 percent despite the negative results of the coronavirus crisis that affected the most powerful economies.
He pointed out that the government has allocated 100 billion pounds for supporting the sectors that are affected by the coronavirus including 16 billion pounds for the health sector, 64 billion pounds for the tourism and aviation sector and 18 billion pounds for the small enterprises sector.
