Shoukry discusses with Libyan Presidential Council officials means to promote national stability

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed that Egypt will do its utmost to support Libya’s stability and see to the fulfillment of its people’s aspirations to live in unity, security and prosperity in their country that shares the same destiny and a long history with Egypt.

His remarks came on Thursday 21/10/2021 during his talks with Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed Yunus al-Menfi and his deputies Abdallah al-Lafi and Musa al-Kuni to address means to consolidate the foundations of stability in Libya.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez the talks were held on the sidelines of a Tripoli-hosted international conference aimed at resolving the country’s thorniest issues ahead of general elections planned for December.

Earlier in the day the Egyptian top diplomat probed with his Libyan counterpart Najla El Mangoush means of giving a stronger impetus to ongoing efforts to realize an all-out political settlement for the crisis in Libya.

Shoukry asserted to the Libyan officials that the election process is an important step that will enable the Libyan people to express their free will, Hafez said.

He called for getting all foreign forces and mercenaries out Libyan territories to help the country restore its stability and sovereignty, according to him.

Also, the minister emphasized the need to press ahead with national reconciliation efforts to realize an all-inclusive settlement for the Libyan conflict and restore social peace and order to a united Libya, the spokesman said.

Talks took up arrangements for the polls and Egypt’s contribution to Libya’s development and reconstruction process, he added.
