Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat has held bilateral meetings with a group of investors and representatives of British companies and financing institutions.

The meetings touched on frameworks for joint cooperation and investment opportunities in the domestic market, especially in the sectors of renewable energy and water desalination projects, in addition to mechanisms and ways to finance environment-friendly projects.

Mashat’s meetings came during her visit to the United Kingdom as part of the Egyptian business mission organized by the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA).

The minister’s activities included her meeting with Group Chief Sustainability Officer at HSBC Celine Herweijer in addition to Managing Director and Head of Global Banking at HSBC Egypt Helmy Ghazi.

During the meeting, the two sides probed stimulating innovative development financing and blended financing mechanisms with a view to advancing efforts to achieve sustainable development.

They also discussed the role of multilateral development banks and international institutions in activating such mechanisms, with the HSBC officials praising efforts made by the Egyptian State to diversify sources of sustainable development financing and implement projects that stimulate green and sustainable growth.
