Cairo Tower is an important tourist world. It was built between 1956 and 1961. Cairo Tower was built out of concrete iron and it has the shape of the famous Lotus plant where ancient Egyptians used to produce papyrus. It is located in the middle of Cairo at the edge of Zamalek Island. The tower was designed by Engineer Noaum Shebib at 1961 (one of the pioneering Egyptian architects and the father of modern architecture in Egypt).

At the top of the Cairo Tower there is a tourist restaurant.  It has a rotating platform that revolves with restaurant goers to see the landmarks of Cairo from all sides.

About five hundred Egyptian workers participated in its construction, and the cost of its construction amounted to about six million pounds at that time.

The tower from outside

Its height reaches 187 meters, which is about 43 meters higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza. It consists of 16 floors and rests on a base of Aswan granite stones used by the ancient Egyptians in building temples and tombs, in a picture that represents a mixture of authenticity and contemporary.

Climbing to the top of the tower takes about 45 seconds. you will be amazed by trying the tower’s telescope to watch the marvelous sights of the Nile River, the amazing Giza Pyramids, the clear blue sky, the TV building, the Sphinx, the Nile, and the Citadel of Salah El-Din.  As you can go to Cairo Tower Restaurant on the 14th floor and at a height of 160 meters for a meal. This restaurant is characterized by its circular shape, which revolves around a fulcrum to see Cairo, and you can take some souvenir photos with family or friends.

The tower was renovated in 2006, at a cost of 15 million pounds, where a comprehensive restoration process took place for the tower, adding new colored external lighting using a new lighting technology that saves energy by a large percentage and through which the colors of the external lighting of the tower can be controlled
