It is a mosque located in the Egyptian city of Luxor. The mosque itself was built in honor of Sheikh Yusuf Abu’l-Hajjaj.
His body was placed in a mausoleum located on the roof of the ancient church, which by this point was buried below ground level.
The mosque dates back to the Ayyubid period; it built in 658 AH (1286 AD), and is built on the north-east side of the Luxor Temple. In addition to this, the highest open courtyard of the mosque resembles the mosque in its ancient Fatimid architecture of mosques.
