Reports on CBE governor’s resignation are not true
Saturday، 13 August 2022 - 10:21 AM

Gamal Negm, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), stressed that reports on the resignation of CBE governor Tarek Amer are not true and groundless.
Negm told MENA on Saturday 13/08/2022 that Amer’s tenure lasts until November 2023 and the constitution stipulates that the appointment of a new governor can be only decided by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Such fake reports about the CBE governor’s resignation negatively affect the CBE and the banking system, he said, reiterating that Amer has been playing a great role in the protection of citizens’ savings since he joined the bank.
He also played a major role in setting the rules of international governance by restructuring banks, including the Central Bank of Egypt, which he contributed to developing to raise its performance to international levels, Negm said.
He urged media outlets not to circulate false reports about the CBE and its officials.
