Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy discussed Monday with UN Women Egypt Country Representative Christine Arab ways of promoting vistas of joint cooperation and means to support the empowerment of women in the country through training programs to hone skills.

That can be attained by boosting cooperation in accordance with an action plan that goes in harmony with a national youth empowerment strategy, he added during a meeting at the ministry's premises.

The minister hailed fruitful cooperation between his ministry and different institutions concerned as part of an integration mechanism aimed at fostering the economic empowerment of women and honing skills by the implementation of several joint programs and projects serving Egyptian women.

For her part, the UN official asserted women's empowerment in untraditional fields such as

handcrafts and fine arts is a top priority of joint work with different departments in the ministry.

She said she is looking forward to boosting fruitful cooperation with the ministry, which she added, spares no effort in cooperating with various civil society institutions and international agencies.
