Sisi orders developing performance at Alexandria port

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered an optimum use of all land areas in Alexandria port serving the harbor's facilities.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli Monday, in the presence of Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir, the president also directed to benefit from global experience in management and operation of the port in order to upgrade the performance and maximize the use of the place, which is one of the most important and largest ports in the Middle East and Africa, to achieve sustainable development in the country.
Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said the meeting reviewed projects and activities carried out by the Transport Ministry nationwide.
The spokesman said the transport minister discussed during the meeting the ongoing development works in ports across the country, with special focus on projects fulfilled in the grand harbor of Alexandria, which covers Dekhila and Max ports and the main Alexandria harbor, taking into consideration areas allocated for cargo and container handling, platform upgrades and the whole logistics system in the port.
Wazir also shed light on the development works in Ain Sokhna port and the establishment of logistics areas and new yards and quays, according to the spokesman.
The spokesman said that Wazir also talked about efforts exerted to overhaul Damietta port and the executive situation of the new traffic axes along the Nile.
President Sisi ordered accelerating the pace of setting up these axes as per the scheduled action plans, as they will make the movement of individuals smoother and safer, in addition to making it easy for the flow of trade and movement of trucks.
The president was as well briefed on the implementation of new projects that are meant to boost the public transport system in the country, added Radi.
