Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawki Allam asserted the need for continued coordination and solidarity between the leaderships, governments, and peoples of Egypt and Saudi Arabia in order to uproot terrorism and eradicate its abhorrent groups that seek to spread devastation and destruction in the Arab and Muslim worlds.

The Mufti made the remarks as part of a statement released Friday in which he greeted Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as the Saudi government and people on the kingdom’s National Day, which falls on September 23.

Fraternal relations between the Egyptian and Saudi peoples are widely recognized as deep-rooted, Allam said.

He also praised the great efforts made by Saudi Arabia and its prominent role in serving Islam and Muslims.
