President El-Sisi Meets Head of Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received at Ittihadia Palace the Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. 

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the President welcomed Al-Burhan's visit to Egypt and noted the strong long-standing brotherly relations between the two countries. The President expressed that Egypt looked forward to further strengthening them to realise the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples, especially at the security, military, economic and trade levels.

The President also affirmed Egypt’s keenness to provide all means of support to achieve political, security and economic stability in Sudan, based on Egypt’s full support for Sudan in all fields and at various levels, in addition to the close connection between the Egyptian and Sudanese national security and the historical ties that unite the peoples of the Nile Valley.

The Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereign Council expressed the deep appreciation that Sudan holds for Egypt at the official and popular levels. He added that he holds in high esteem the long-standing ties between the two brotherly countries, and the well established popular and governmental rapprochement between Egypt and Sudan, praising Egypt's unlimited support through various fora to preserve the safety and stability of Sudan. 

The meeting reviewed the overall relations between the two countries. Satisfaction was expressed with the level of ongoing coordination between the two sides, while stressing the importance of strengthening economic relations and increasing trade to be commensurate with the existing momentum in political and military relations, and the historical ties that unite the two brotherly peoples.

The meeting also reviewed the latest regional developments, including the Renaissance Dam. There was agreement to continue intensive consultation and mutual coordination in this context during the coming period for the common interest of the two brotherly countries and peoples.
