Agriculture min. invites int'l partners to explore Egypt's success stories in agro-industry

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed el Quseir said the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is invited to expand the scope of activities of its office in Cairo.

During a meeting on Tuesday 27/9/2022 with Deputy Director of FAO Maurizio Martina and his accompanying delegation, Quseir also asserted to the importance of inviting international partners to Egypt to explore the success stories in the national agricultural industry and study the possibility of repeating them in other countries.
Discussing how to promote cooperation between the ministry and the UN affiliated body, the minister proposed dispatching FAO agribusiness units to Egypt.
"We have a livestock insurance fund, and there is also an opportunity for cooperating with FAO on strategic crop insurance-related issues," Quseir said.
The two sides also probed cooperation for achieving integration between Egypt and many African states, such as FAO's ongoing cooperation with Egypt and South Sudan on improving animal health in South Africa by making use of Egypt's expertise and the serums produced by Egypt's Agricultural Research Center.
Meanwhile, Martina highlighted the organization's growing interest in finance-related issues, given the need for increasing the efficiency of agricultural projects.
