Itthad Club

The Club was established in 1914 by a group of school students under the name United Champions. Membership was later enlarged to include the Employees Club and the name was changed to al-Itthad as-Sakandari (Union Alexandria Sporting Club).
Al-Itthad was the first club to endorse the idea of an Egyptian Football Association (1920).
In 1935, an operational premise was established to serve members of the Club. After this, other sports were introduced including Tennis and basketball among others.
The Alexandria stadium was opened on November 17, 1929.
Al-Itthad as-Sakandari football team was the first to play outside Egypt. They won 12 out of 13 matched played against the Balkan countries in 1926. They also played Palestine (1936), Lebanon (1936, 1966), Syria (1936) and Greece (1950).

Two green olive branches intertwined; the olive branches represent amity and friendship.
