An 88th-minute goal by Mohamed Magdy Afsha was enough to help Egypt's Al Ahly defeat US Seattle Sounders 1-0 Saturday and advance to the semifinals of the 2023 FIFA Culb World Cup, hosted by Morocco.

The Cairo giants will face Spain’s Real Madrid in the next round.

The Sounders, who are the first team from the United States to compete in club soccer's global finals, secured their place in the tournament after their title-winning run in the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.

Al Ahly have finished third in the previous two Club World Cups.
