Trade and Industry Minister meets with Switzerland's Ambassador in Cairo

Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir met, on Tuesday 07/02/2023 with Switzerland's Ambassador Yvonne Baumann in Cairo.

The meeting was held to probe ways of boosting economic ties between Egypt and Switzerland in the spheres of trade, investment and industry.

Switzerland is one of the most important countries investing in the Egyptian market, said Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir.

Switzerland is taking part in numerous projects with total capital worth dlrs 2.2 billion in the Egyptian market, added the minister.

There are distinguished investment opportunities available to the Swiss business circles in several production sectors, especially in the projects related to the food security, chemicals and fertilizers, said the minister.

Egypt and Switzerland are bound by distinguished trade ties, the minister said, noting that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached about dlrs 994 million during 2022.

The minister, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of establishing an Egyptian-Swiss business council to support the economic cooperation system between the two countries.

The ministry is keen on benefiting from the Switzerland's expertise and its advanced technological industries, added Samir.

For her part, the Switzerland's ambassador affirmed her country's keenness on propelling bilateral cooperation with Egypt in the various spheres.

The ambassador further referred to the distinguished investment opportunities in the Egyptian market.

The ambassador also lauded Egypt's launch of the State Ownership Policy Document, which aims to increase the participation of the private sector in the market.
