CEEBA mulls maximizing use of soft funding to back foreign investments

Secretary General of the Confederation of the Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA) Alaa Ezz has discussed with Directorate-General for the European Union Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman means to boost trade and investment cooperation between both sides.
They had a meeting on Saturday 01/04/2023 in the presence of a host of respective officials for both sides.
Ezz said in a statement that both sides agreed on encouraging EU companies to promote investments in Egypt and strengthen joint industrialization, contributing to increasing exports and creating more job opportunities.
They agreed on reviving EU’s effective economic integration initiatives and programs, including Partenariate, Enterprise, Task Force, EBSOMED and ENI CBC MED.
They also agreed on optimizing the private sector’s use of soft funding to support investments of the EU and the European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus (EFSD+).
A proposal was also made to hold a major conference on investment in Cairo in the last quarter of 2023 with the support of main regional business organizations such as the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), the (Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises) (BUSINESSMED), the Confederation of European Business (Businesseurope) and Eurochambres.
