Electricity Ministry and MCIT Ministry sign a cybersecurity cooperation protocol

The Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed a cybersecurity cooperation protocol.
The protocol aims to prepare an executive plan for cybersecurity in the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, its agencies and subsidiaries, in accordance with Egypt’s National Strategy for Cyber Security.
Electricity Minister affirmed that this cooperation comes in support of the digital transformation file, in order to maintain cyber security, to protect information, infrastructure, priority sectors, and government services and activities.
The protocol signed also entails the establishment of a special laboratory for cybersecurity tests at the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company.
The MCIT minister indicated that the ministry will contribute to providing various expertise and high competencies in the field of cybersecurity, conducting all necessary tests, qualifying workers in this field, and using the latest information and communication technology technologies to manage information security to ensure the protection of systems and information processing devices, including user devices and critical information infrastructure from cyber risks.
