Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir on Thursday 28/09/2023 discussed in a meeting with a Danone delegation, the French company's current and future projects in the Egyptian market.
The delegation was led by Christian Stammkoetter, the president of Danone's Asia, Africa and Middle East.
The minister said that he probed with Danone delegation the company's plans to expand in the local market and export to foreign markets, especially in light of the current intense competition in the field of dairy products.
Samir stated that Egypt enjoys a great competitive potential, especially as the country signed trade agreements with a large number of states that allow Egyptian products to reach various world countries. He highlighted as well the availability of a legislative environment that encourages investment in various economic sectors, notably the food industry.
The trade minister explained that the successive economic crises in the world and the disruption in global supply chains have prompted different countries, including Egypt, to step up efforts to localize the manufacture of production requirements and raw materials.
On his part, Christian Stammkoetter said Danone is keen on increasing its investments in the Egyptian market, which is considered as a large consumer market and has a diverse and enormous labor force.
Hesham Radwan, the general manager and managing director of Danone Egypt and Northeast Africa, said the company implemented several initiatives to collect milk, notably the "Milk Collection Communities" project, as well as establishing 12 milk collection centers, with the aim of empowering small milk producers and farmers and providing high-quality milk that is free of any contaminants, antibiotics or solid impurities.
