The Minister of Planning Meets with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saied, and Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Mathias Cormann, discussed ways to strengthen cooperation.

Ms. El-Saied is to participate in the launch of the OECD report on Egypt, at the organization's headquarters, in the French capital, in light of Egypt's regional program, which was signed in 2022 and launched in Cairo in 2023.Egypt appreciates the cooperative relations with the OECD, maintained for more than 15 years, according to Ms. El-Saied, who praised the support provided by the organization to the Egyptian side to help continue the program of economic reform and strengthen general policies.

She said Egypt is working to maximize the report by developing a participatory vision with the participation of the government, the private sector and civil society by forming a committee led by the Ministry of Planning to examine how to 'activate the organization's recommendations and transform them into effective policies aimed at strengthening the performance of the Egyptian economy and relaunching development.

 In this context, the Minister of Planning spent review of the various economic reforms undertaken by Egypt in recent years with the aim of strengthening the role of the private sector, allowing the gradual exit of the State from economic activity and attracting investments.

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development adde3d that Egypt is doing its best to prevent the most vulnerable categories of Egyptian citizens from being affected by the repercussions of these external shocks, according to, discussing the various social protection programs that have been launched by the Egypt. She expressed her aspiration to further engage in the organization's partnership with Africa, particularly in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Steering Committee, and of Egypt's active role in the various bodies concerned by the African continent.

For his part, the Secretary General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann, affirmed that Egypt's participation in the organization's ministerial meeting was a political message reflecting the interest given by Egypt to the working mechanisms within the organization.
