PM chairs meeting of “China Unit” to discuss joint files

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired a meeting of the “China Unit” to discuss areas of mutual cooperation.

The meeting was attended Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of International Cooperation Rania El Mashat, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, a long with a galaxy of ministers and authorities concerned.

During the meeting, First Assistant to the Prime Minister Engineer Randa El-Menshawy presented several indicators of Egyptian-Chinese cooperation, noting that the trade volume in 2023 reached dlrs 15.7 billion, with Egyptian exports to China amounting to dlrs 881 million in the same year. She also mentioned that Chinese investments in Egypt amounted to dlrs 8 billion through more than 2,600 Chinese-affiliated companies.

She added that the “TEDA” economic and trade cooperation zone between Egypt and China currently hosts over 140 companies in industrial, logistical, and service sectors, with investments exceeding dlrs 3.3 billion and providing more than 10,000 job opportunities.

Engineer Randa El-Menshawy also discussed the meetings held by the executive secretariat of the China Unit with the Chinese Embassy delegation in Cairo. These meetings involved discussions on supporting and enhancing frameworks of mutual cooperation and the ongoing efforts to sign several documents in various fields.
