Sherif Ismail
The government has a plan to develop slums and high-risk areas not just in Cairo and Alexandria but nationwide as well, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said.
The government will work on raising the standard of living of low-income segments, while developing slums and areas classified as life-threatening, the Premier said during a meeting with a group of senior journalists on Monday15/2/2016.
Asked on the possibility of enforcing a progressive tax on incomes, Ismail said that although he was convinced with this policy, it does not suit the current conditions in Egypt.
Applying progressive taxes will require amending tax laws, which will make tax policies in Egypt look unstable at a time the country is seeking to attract foreign and national investments to achieve high development rates, he said.
