The Egyptian-Bosnian relations date back to 1992, as Egypt was among the first countries to recognize the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Egypt opened its resident Embassy in Sarajevo in 1996.

Egypt is a member of the 55-member Peace Implementation Council (PIC), which was established under London Conference, in December 1995, to establish peace in Bosnia.
