Cultural and Scientific Relations
Tuesday، 26 January 2016 12:00 AM
Cultural and Scientific relations are one the most important aspects of the overall relations between both countries. The presence of more than 2000 Canadian-Egyptian professors in Canadian universities signifies the magnitude of these relations. The Government of Egypt continues to send students on official grants to study at Canadian institutions, and a large number of Egyptians funding their own tuition choose Canada as their preferred educational destination.
A number of Egyptian universities have signed cooperation agreements with Canadian universities such as universities of Montreal, Waterloo, Alberta, while other agreements are currently being considered with the universities of British Columbia, McGill, and Prince Edward Island.
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) has been operating in Egypt since 1984, and it runs its regional activities from Cairo. It is especially active in research activities in the fields of agriculture and irrigation. For the past few years it has also been involved in projects that support democratization and spread awareness on human rights issues.
