President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on 23/9/2014 in New York, President of the Republic of Chile Michelle Bachelet on the sidelines of the 69th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. President of Chile suggested the possibility of signing a free trade agreement with Egypt, as well as hosting number Egyptian university students in Chile to study. She also spoke about the successful experience of one of the Chilean companies operating in Egypt.

The Chilean President Ricardo Escobar visited Egypt on 16/1/2005 to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and strengthen investment. The Chilean President expressed during his visit his country's desire to increase investments in Egypt to include natural gas field in addition to the oil exploration in el-Wahat el-Bahariya or el-Bahariya Oasis.
